Live Better With Chiropractic:

Decompression Therapy is a Non-Surgical Procedure to help reduce or eliminate Neck Pain, Arm Pain, Low Back Pain and Leg Pain.

Decompression Therapy is a non-surgical procedure.  Using unloading distraction force and patient positioning to reduce the pressure on spinal discs and facet joints, decompression therapy effectively relieves the pain associated with disc herniation, degenerative discs, posterior facet pain, and other spinal related syndromes.

Decompression Therapy effectively enhances the healing process and often renders quick, effective and sometimes amazing pain relief that enables most patients to return to a more active lifestyle.

Research to develop this procedure was conducted by prominent physicians, engineers and technicians at major teaching hospitals.

Decompression Therapy is a highly successful treatment for patients suffering from bulging, herniated, degenerative, or ruptured discs as well as sciatica, cervical radiculopathy, carpal tunnel syndrome, and some failed spinal surgery cases.

If you are considering surgery this treatment helps avoid the risk of anesthesia, surgical complications, and the potential of failed back surgery.

A lot of attention has been placed on patients with severe back and neck problems.  But what about the patient with intermittent back pain or pain that will respond to common anti-inflammatory medication?  Is Decompression Therapy beneficial for moderate to mild back pain?  Common sense would suggest yes, and clinical response supports this.  Disc health is most often lost in a gradual process.  If as an example you had lost 35-40% of the hydration properties in you lumbar disc by the age of 35 beginning therapy sooner rather than later could save you significant pain, time and resources.  Your treatment program would be much less involved compared to having waited until your disc degenerated to 70-75% loss of hydration at age 55.

So does that mean Decompression Therapy is right for everyone with back or neck pain.  No, it is not for everyone and not everyone who tries it will have the same results.  Additionally we have found a combination of therapies in conjunction with decompression provides the most patients with the best outcome.  Some patients need more exercise focused programs while others need better stress management or improved nutrition.  To say that Decompression Therapy will magically give you a new back would be unsubstantiated and overstated, but to claim that the use of Decompression Therapy as part of a comprehensive spinal health package might be your best chance at regaining a functional spine is fair and accurate.
